About LYNN

Lynn Maro is the youngest of 7 children born in Youngstown, Ohio to Stephen and Mary Jane Maro. She is a 1985 graduate of Ursuline High School. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Youngstown State University in 1988 with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in political science. In December, 1990 she received her juris doctorate degree, graduating Cum Laude from the University of Akron School Of Law. 


In law school Lynn competed on the Jessup International Moot Court team and received the Outstanding Oralist Award at the Regional Competition in New York. She was also a member of the University of Akron Trial Team, placing fifth in the Country at the National Tournament in Dallas, Texas in 1989 and third in the Regional competition in 1990. 


After law school Lynn joined the Akron law firm of Buckingham, Doolittle & Burroughs as an associate in civil litigation division. In 1992, she joined the Mahoning County Prosecutor’s Office in the civil division until 1996. She has been in private practice since 1994 and currently practices law with her husband, Attorney Jonathan K. Schoenike. Lynn’s practice includes civil and criminal litigation and appellate work. While the majority of her case load focuses upon criminal defense work, Lynn also handles employment and labor law cases, harassment and discrimination cases, personal injury and medical malpractice cases. 


Lynn is licensed to practice in all Ohio Courts, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Lynn is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Mahoning County Bar Association. She has served as Chair of the Campaign Ethics Committee since 1999 and was Chair of the Public Relations Committee, hosting the People’s Law School in Austintown and Boardman, the Explorer post for high school students interested in becoming lawyers, organized the MCBA Relay for Life Boardman Team, and organized the Blood Drive in conjunction with the American Red Cross. 

Lynn and Jonathan have been married for 31 years and have 2 daughters, Katelyn Schoenike, a teacher at the Quad Preparatory School in Manhattan, New York; and Audrey Schoenike, an associate attorney with White and Williams in its Boston office.
